Maurice Plomske

Maurice Plomske

Maurice Plomske’s creations translate his passion for a moment, a thought, or a feeling into physical form for all to enjoy. Although Maurice enjoys working in various mediums, he has made sculpture the main focus for most of the last decade. The sculptures are designed to entertain the viewer with themes that are amusing and whimsical. The intent is to charm the audience. He portrays the character and subject mostly in a style of realism adding the abstract element in the composition as artistic licence. The artwork is modelled in clay or polymer clay from which a plaster cast mould is constructed for the final cast. Though a few pieces have been cast in bronze, most of Maurice’s works exist in various materials including polymer cement and hydrocal with finished patinas in acrylic.

Originally from Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Maurice studied at the University of Guelph in their Fine Arts Program. After graduating and working in theatre production (set design) for a number of years in Ottawa, Maurice met and married his beloved Veronica. They moved to Veronica’s home province of Nova Scotia and over the past 30 years lived and raised their family in Dartmouth. During that time, much inspiration and many adventures ensued.

Over the last few years Maurice has exhibited and sold in three juried art shows at Argyle Fine Art in Halifax and with the Truro Art Society at the McCarthy Gallery in Truro, N.S.
